The
Kamaaina Life
This
new website is meant to be a journal of sorts. Not a daily journal but
an
accounting
of what it's like to live in Hawaii from the point of view
of
a kamaaina, that is, someone who was not born here, but now has come to
call
Hawaii home. It will be posted gradually as I complete each section
that has
to
do with various occasions in our everyday life as well as important occasions
in
the
life of Hawaii. It will include my personal insights that have evolved
over
the
almost nineteen years that I have lived here.
Hawaii
is not like any other place. It is lovely and welcoming at once
and
very intimidating at the same time. It has inspired many people
to
love this place . It's history is magnificent and varied. It's
people
are proud and fight for preservation of their culture.
This
story will in no way try to convey some great insight into the
political
and cultural aspects of Hawaii today, but simply try to
relate
what it is like to live here on a daily basis
and
what we love and appreciate about the islands that
we
have come to call our home.
